It's with sad regret to announce the passing of Fred Dent a former past president for the club and retired bowler. The funeral will be held on the 11th May at Corbets Tey, Upminster at 13:15
The mens County competitions have now been drawn which you can find via the Competitions tab along the menu bar of our website. As the Area Competition Secretary for Group Nine I will also be keeping the Singles/Pairs/Triples and Fours on a seperate 'live' spreadsheet as per previous year and update the results as and when they come in. A link to these can be found HERE
Good luck to everyone involved and hopefully we will see some of our members making the finals this season.
Well done to the following players making selection for trials and squads for Group Nine this upcoming season
Kevin Wainford and Martin Childs - Ashford Cup Trialist/Reserve (Chelmsford Bowls Club 30/04/17 2pm)
Mick Maxwell and Dave Wakefield - Wally Ball Squad (Grays Town 11/06/17 10am)
Adam Bailey, Glyn Walls, Chris Muir, Alex Browning, Dave Patterson, Dave Fryer, Paul Wingham and Andy O'Neill - Intergroup Knockout Team (Drums Bowls Club 11/06/17 10am)
This is a great showing for the club with 12 of our men members being chosen to represent the group. If you could find time to show your support if possible I'm sure it would be appreciated by both those involved and the Group themselves.
Good luck everyone.
Club Competition entry form now available, please complete and return before the 30th so we can get them underway earlier this season. Once again there will be no entry fees due to not enough members to make a prize worthwhile unfortunately.
If you choose to enter please make every effort to arrange games in time for the round, lots were conceded last season which was a shame.
Printed forms will be available at the club house from the 13th April
To kick the season off Drums have 3 planned friendly fixtures
Thurrock (Mixed) - Friday 21st April
Aveley (Men) - Wednesday 26th April
Brentwood (Men) - Friday 28th April
All games are to be played at Drums Bowls Club and start at 5.30pm with a buffet after the match.
Your support is very much appreciated in these matches and they serve as good practice for the challenges that the early season brings.
These have been placed in the shared Drums calendar which will highlight upcoming matches and events, if you would like advice on getting this on your smartphone/tablet then please speak with David Patterson and I will attempt to assist.
